In this  second in his series of American folk song band arrangements (following "The Blue Tail Fly"), Myers captures the essence of a trip down this famous early American express transportation route.  Listeners can easily imagine the slow clip-clop of mules as they pull the heavy barges, as well as the sounds of locks opening and closing.  Syncopation and a rich palette of scoring add to the musical enjoyment in this always surprising arrangement!
